Mock Ads

Are mock ads necessary to be presented as a portfolio for interview?
your opinions are highly appreciated.

Not necessary, but it is ok to do that in my opinion. Or are you asking about the format?

It depends. If you don't have real ads in your portfolio then they're very much necessary, otherwise you wouldn't have a portfolio at all. If you do have a portfolio of real clients, then you might want to use some mock ads just to spice things a little bit, if that's what your portfolio needs.

depends who is your CD ? is he cool, tight ass, snob, funky, strict, open, rocker, mocker, sophisticated, intellectual, etc
when you decide to attack A CD with your portfolio you have to know at least what is the agency internal positioning, clients ,potential clients, and most of all you have to ask yourself 2 Q
1-why do they need you ?
2- what can you bring?
if you find a good answer in your portfolio then you made it ..

its like a tone and manner thing
by the way good luck

Thanks for the response guys, I would take note on that :) . Would it be better to play safe in presenting your idea like a pro bono perhaps, At least you do have a share of the pie?

What i learned from where i putmy feet is....mock ads gives more creative freedom to express
1.what ur potential is and
2.what u can give that they require

real ads shows your on time market relevency...it gives picture of your acceptance in market...and if you r not presentng mock in ur profile as mock beteer make it more believable.it will open good oppertunities.
