Lunatic Chinese

I love China, I lived there for many years, but sometimes the stuff they do is just beyond abnormal. Chinese county massacres 50,000 dogs: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060801/ap_on_re_as/china_dogs_killed
Sorry for the offtopic post, but this just makes my blood boil over.

They have done this in the past with birds. One nerd calculated that they can increase rice crops by killing off all the birds, so they won't eat the rice. So they did it. They didn't let the birds settle for hours and hours until they dropped from exhaustion. Than they finished them off. The same year all the crop was eaten by bugs, that were striving in the absence of birds.

I hope there is hell, because come people just need to go down.

crazy huh? and the same thing is happening to people and other animals all over the place.
the advertising community could use this image for some powerful campaigns to shame the people at a higher level than these idiots (who are local body government it would seem) into changing policy.
Doubt it though.

my sister was there few years ago, she wanted to try local delicacy so she went to a small roadside eating place. she tried some meat that she didn't know th ename because it's not familiar to her poor chinese vocab. a local friend passed by and asked her to check out the kitchen at behind, they were choping rats. McDonald was her diet for the next few days.

Dogs look to humans for love and they give us so much. This is the most sickening animal cruelty I have heard of. I would happily see all in particiapnts beaten to death.

Well, it is a different world over there. The problem is that they don't have this connection to animals that we have. One must not forget that China is still a developing country. Eventually they'll get there. Dogs are becoming quite popular as pets because of the "Year of the dog" and from my many trips to mostly Beijing over the past couple of years, I must say that they absolutely love their dogs. I've also seen a great campaign for animal rights. Can't remember who was responsible, I reckon it was Peta. Even though it is wrong what they are doing, let's not forget what we as the "civilized" world have done. China is going through a development that took us over a 100 years, in under 20. I have great faith in China and that future development will increase not only animal rights but human rights as well.

Such acts of cruelty are not be confused with cultural factors. One should need to be taught basic morality it should be inherent in ones own consciousness. As intelligent beings we understand emotions and thus we have an innate sense of right and wrong. These actions are sickeningly evil and cannot be excused.

I'm not and I am not saying that it should be excused. I was just showing the "other side". I just hate generalisation.

I just happen to see this post when I searched for something else. I am actually quite surprised, especially when people call it "animal cruelty".

By all means it is cruel.

But then, it is cruel to kill a chicken as well, as it is to kill a lamb or a cow. And when you do eat meat, does it even matter which animal it comes from?

Isn't it sort of hypocrisy? I'm a vegetarian so it is ok for me to talk about "animal cruelty". Not for people who already eat meat!
