How FP7 Doha won Grand Prix at Dubai Lynx with a stock image...
Scam Buster 5 pencils | Fri, 2009-03-20 03:39I was impressed when FP7 doha won the grand prix for an amazing piece of art. The Jury mentioned that they gave the Grand prix as they were much impressed by the level of details that the agency did in producing that great piece of art. Truth is that the illustration was a simple stock image that anyone can buy for 59 US$. It was not the vision of the creatives of FP7 Doha. They simply found an image, slapped a logo and won.
That leaves me a with a dilemma. Does the agency deserve a medal, let alone a grand prix? It;s not that they took the image, manipulated it, did something and created something of their own.
It is for the readers here to judge.

Research well done. The similarity is obvious. Wish to hear what the other side has to say.
IT’S REALLY SURPRISING TO SEE SUCH SIMALIRITY IN THE IDEA AND EXECUTION, WHICH WIN AWARDS.
BUT AS TOPIC OF DISCUSSION IS IT NECESSARY THAT THE CREATIVE TEAM COPIES THE IDEA BY KEEPING ON TOP OF THE DRAWING BOARD AS A TEMPELATE, SOMETIME THERE CAN BE SIMILAR IDEAS AND EXECUTION HAPPENING AROUND THE WOLD AT THE SAME TIME.. QUESTION MARK.
BUT END OF THE DAY WHEN BLOGS LIKE THIS AND SIMILAR BLOGS EXIST THERE IS WONDERFUL OPPOURTINITY TO CROSS CHECK THE IDEAS.
GONE ARE THE DAYS OF REFERING TO BLACK BOOKS AND ONE SHOWS NOW ITS TIME TO REFER THIS BLOG TO SEE WHAT YOU THINK REALLY EXISTS.
ALL THE BEST FOR THE WORK YOU GUYS ARE DOING IT REALLY HELP US TO COPY IDEAS...HA HA HA (JOKING)
BUT TO BE SURE WE DONT PRODUCE WORK WHICH HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE
The real question arises whether the jury is up to the mark and whether they are in tune with the kind of work being produced around the world. Of course, a good creative person would try his/her level best to stay ahead of the curve. This is way easier today (as pointed out above) given our access to the digital realm. So though it may be impossible to see everything done the world over, chances are that from a jury of several individuals, if they had done their homework, at least one of them would spot the scam. It just leaves that much more opportunity for the genuine work to see the golden lining around the award shows. And again, it really takes something to rip off another campaign.
The more you dig the more dirt you get. I went to this site http://bloganubis.com/ and saw how some of the ads that these guys did and won actually advertises products that don't even exist. they even changed the packaging just for the awards to make them look award entry type. go to this site and you will be shocked: http://bloganubis.com/
??????? my comment just vanished. anyways, just check this site and see how they have investigated so many of these entere and found that most were scams, products not relevent or unpublished: http://bloganubis.com/

FP7 - Stripped of Agency of The Year Title
The organisers of the 3rd Dubai Lynx Awards have withdrawn the Agency of the Year award from FP7 Doha and the trophy will subsequently now not be awarded this year.
Investigations after this year's award show have revealed numerous examples of work from FP7 Doha that did not meet the Dubai Lynx entry criteria and subsequently these 18 submissions and the associated seven awards have been withdrawn. Those awards were: 1 Gold Print campaign, 1 Gold TV/Cinema campaign, 3 Silver Print campaigns, 1 Silver Outdoor campaign and 1 Bronze TV/Cinema campaign. In addition, ten pieces which were shortlisted in the Print and Outdoor sections were also disqualified. FP7 is part of the Interpublic Group.
Samsung.jpgUK trade website Brand Republic carried a story two days ago on a scam controversy featuring a Samsung ad that was not authorised by the client. Brand Republic quotes the client Sunny Hwang, the president of Samsung Electronics Levant, who stated: "At no time was Samsung Electronics aware of these advertisements and the company has not approved or commissioned FP7 to create any advertising campaigns." See full story here.
"Even before the awards night we had withdrawn a number of pieces of work from the competition but subsequently our investigation has found other pieces that were presented to the jury that infringed our requirement that all work presented must represent the client who approved it. Our rules are very clear with regards to this, and we have no hesitation in withdrawing these awards," said Philip Thomas, Dubai Lynx CEO. "The Dubai Lynx Awards exist to celebrate and raise the creative bar of genuine work of the region. Activities like this show a disregard not only for the Awards but more importantly for the juries who work so hard judging the event. Due to the scale of withdrawals we feel it inappropriate to honour FP7 Doha as Agency of the Year and so will be withdrawing the prize. I hope that this swift action makes clear our determination to build an award with true integrity for the region," continued Thomas.
The Dubai International Advertising Festival and Lynx Awards, which took place earlier this month, are held in association with the IAA - UAE Chapter. Dr. Lance de Masi, Chapter President, commented: "In taking such swift action the Lynx organisers have demonstrated their understanding that in order to fulfil the purpose of incentivising and rewarding creative excellence in the region, Lynx must safeguard compliance with the stated conditions of eligibility. To do otherwise would be to undermine credibility."
What make deference if you got one or two awards or you got nothing, what benefit they will gain now, out of nothing they become agency of the year with no evidence in their local market.
We worked in Doha since 4 years and we never seen any of the creative they present in lynx.
And i told my colege during the event WHY such as this American game came to Doha to create their ads?
these guys don't deserve any award.
Clients should ban them and switch to other agencies. They really suck.
it is not FP7 DOHA.... it is FP7 DUBAI that took the grand prize,
to be continued...
Both agencies were part of the Dubai Lynx scandal.
But the scandal is not limited to FP7 Doha or FP7 Dubai. JWT Dubai, Team Y&R Dubai, Impact BBDO Kuwait, Memac Ogilvy Kuwait, etc. etc. the list is long. I hope that ALL the culprits get their trophies withdrawn by the Lynx.
