Production houses, but i think you should first take some film making courses. New York fil Academy is quite good and EMERSON college in Boston, as for the other side there is AFI the best in the world based in LA..

why did you think of production houses first?
from my experience the creative conceptualising she is looking for is mostly done on the agency side..

Yes but i think it would be better to build some strong technical skills and knowledge before going to the Agency creative side! my opinion is that she should acquire strong Technical skills about productions and be part of big productions before moving into an agency.

Hi Folks,

Could some help me out for my career in Ad films? Here are the current profile which I'm holding off.

Education:

Highest Qualification: B.tech - 2008 passed out.

Aspiration: To do work in Ad agencies.

Employment:

IT Employee..

Bottom Line: could some one let me know is it possible for me to pursue career in Ad agencies? Does really require to hold Fine arts degree to get in to it as graduate? Is it possible for me to to PG from one of good institution in india? like MICA,FTII,any more other?

Please some one could reply on this. It would be really helpful for me if anyone do so.

I've work at an ad agency as a copywriter where I came up with TV ads, and I have interned at a post production facility and been accepted to a film school so I have some experience in both worlds. If you want to concept and come up with ideas for the commercial, that would be the ad agency side of things. A copywriter and art director work under a creative director to come up with ideas that must be sold to the client. Then you hire a director and production company to take it from there. If you want to direct commercials, which means you take the ad agency's idea and then figure out the best way to execute it, then you would want to work for a production company. A great director can take an ok idea and make it great, or make a great idea amazing, and if you are good at it you will be sought after and rewarded nicely. However, if you want to take that route I would suggest film school and work on your own narrative/commercial projects there. Directors need to have their own voice and unique way of seeing the world (take Michel Gondry for instance). If you want to come up with the ads I would suggest an ad school that will help you put together a portfolio to get you hired into an agency. You would also work on print, web and outdoor ads as well. The TV component has been shrinking lately so you will have to fight to get that. The ownership of the ideas really belongs to everyone involved, some more than others. It's all about collaboration. Both routes are hard (with film direction being more competitive because there are less spots). I would try to figure what part of the process you enjoy most-- the idea part or the execution part, though both routes require expertise in both. Hope that helps a little.
