$10,000 up for grabs
ndejesus 102 pencils | Mon, 2007-03-26 09:57Hi all,
Recently, I have posted here, introducing a new venture called TopCreatives. TopCreatives will be launching officially on May 1, 2007 and we are looking forward to you all signing up to compete on creative briefs that we will be posting. So far we have 3 briefs ready to go, and expect about 7 more by our launch.
Right now, we are predicting that there will be $10,000-$15,000 up for grabs for creatives who compete on the briefs and win either first, second or third place. In order to be eligable for the prize money, all you have to do is sign up. After you become a member, you are free to compete on the briefs and take our money!
Membership is free, and we encourage all to come and join our little group - freelancers, students and professionals. We are excited to have you all join us, and be pioneers of something truly innovative.
We will also have surveys on the site, asking about the type of things we should bring to the table for you later, as we grow. Considerations might be anything from health insurance for those who don't have it, to a web-based community like Sim City or Second Life. Let us know how you would like to see this develop, after all, its a community for YOU!

Can one already sign up, or not yet?
Hi Ivan,
Not yet, as we are still building the back end of the site that will allow you to do so, but if people go to the site, and click on the contact us page, and send me their info, I will personally send an alert to anyone who has given me their email address, once we launch and open the site to new members.
(and oh yeah, don't shoot me just yet, I know we need to proof the content on the site. building this has been a long process)
Hope we see you all soon!

Okey dokey. Btw, you surely know how to write attention grabbing subject lines. ;)
Like the idea, been to the site and will sign up when it's open, but... What protection is there for creative ideas? What's to stop someone pinching something and using it themselves without paying?
There are probably a load of questions that you can answer quickly and easily, so perhaps an FAQ based on what you've already been asked, what you think people might ask, etc would be a good addition to the site.
Thanks Purple, the FAQ would be a great idea. To answer your question about protection of creative ideas (which is as important to us as it is to you) is that it works in this way.
In the membership agreement, we reccommend that you register your ideas in at least one, if not both of the following ways. If you first, email the concept, to yourself, that you are submitting to our site, it gives you a digital timestamp of when the idea was created. Second, by submitting the concept to our site, it is also registerd by a digital timestamp.
Moreover, because the client only sees the winning concepts, and not all of the submissions, we gaurantee that if your concept is used, you WILL be paid.
Thanks for your question, and I hope that I've answered it to your satisfaction. If not, get in touch and I'll go over it in more detail.

who gets to determine who wins the brief?
... its already been done...
Hi Klaussnow,
once submission are collected, we have 3 creative directors rate the entries based on the creative brief, as well as the clients' judgement criteria (which you will be able to see before submitting your entry). The highest rated submissions will go on to the client. since we have different packages (3, 5, or 10 concepts) the client will see 3, 5 or 10 of the submissions. Everyone whos submissions are seen by the client, gets paid.
Hope that helps -

I can't wait for the site to open registrations :D. btw, this is not region-restricted or something, right? I'm not from the US or Western Europe.
We are excited to have you, Eugens. This will not be a region-restricted site at all. We want as many people to join as would want to. I do have to admit though, that unfortunately, we will be launching in english only, and as we grow, will then be able to have translation into Spanish, French, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese and Italian. I would also like some recommendations on Arabic languages we should include, since I am not familiar with them at all.
