let's assume i get this ad. how is this strapless bra different than others?

if you don't want to sell this through some other benefits or show how this is different than others then why bother and make an ad? you might as well write "strapless bras for sale" and that's it. the idea of an ad is to persuade the customer that this product is in some way better than the competition. what does it have that other strapless bras dont? does it come out in funky colors? does it weight less? does it look sexier? find something unique and make it a big deal in your ad.
all this ad is telling me is that there's a woman laying down and has a tanline/mark from wearing a strapless bra. ok so what...?
if there's something more to it that i don't get please explain
if there's nothing unique about the product then advertise it in a different way. maybe show the girl taking a shower in her bra and explain how it's so comfortable that she forgot to take it off or something

I don't think you fully understood this product before attempting an execution. The main advantage of a strapless bra is that you can wear a sleeveless dress or shoulder-less evening gown and still wear a bra since you won't have to worry about bra straps showing, which wouldn't look very classy. That is all. Anyone who's watched their girlfriend get ready for an evening out would grasp this. Many women say they also find strapless bras more comfortable, but I would focus on the first benefit since there's more you can do with it.
You commented earlier that you "don't want to sell this through some other benefits or different than others." Why not? You have a product that is, by definition, different that a normal bra and has an obvious and useful advantage. Why would you ignore it?
Now on to the more immediate problems. What on earth is going on in this photo? I really don't get it at all. Is this some kind of new spa treatment? Looks pretty bizzare.
It could ALMOST work if you attached yourself to the ad and explained it to everyone. Not really though.

We're missing whats happening at the front - which is the main purpose of a good bra! I wanna see the impressive results - a la 'Hello Boys!'
Concept could work as advert for strapless bra - as in, this is exactly what you don't want!
I have no idea what this ad is supposed to communicate. this lacks a concept. or insight.
How does having robot tits on my lower back create a need for a strapless bra?

Titus, I think you can gather that nobody is getting this piece. At first I thought I was missing something but it's confirmed to me now that it's you who is missing something here. What that is, is an adequate executon to demonstrate your idea which it seems is only understood by yourself. Try staying awake in class.

I am not missing anything... if you want to write a full story to understand this I think it's bad advertising method.

If everyone relates to the rash marks from wearing bras with straps (in India), why not just show a picture without the rashes to communicate strapless? I'm not saying that it's the right way to sell the benefit, but it would be less confusing than the non-related acupuncture visual. I think you can push it further, try a few more ideas.
By the way, I don't see any rashes, I just see a tan line.
