The unknown history of Ukraine

A creative agency SAPHIRA created a project dedicated to filling gaps in the history of Ukraine.

The agency was approached by a historian enthusiast who researches international archives and uncovers previously unknown facts about the history of Ukraine. He needed a website where he could publish his discoveries to the general public.

After diving into the client's materials, SAPHIRA realized they had stumbled upon a treasure. His research fills historical gaps and thoroughly debunks the historical fakes propagated by a hostile country.

To reveal and shed light on the history of Ukraine, the agency created something more than just a website. They decided to show how rich Ukraine's history is in events while highlighting the numerous undiscovered gaps we aim to fill.

The first thing you see on the website is an interactive timeline featuring all the known events and gaps in the history of Ukraine, from the appearance of the first humans, until the present day. But the main feature of this timeline is that it is not static – it is alive and changes with every new historical discovery.

Moreover, every user can become part of the project by contributing to filling in the gaps. Thus, we emphasize that history is everyone's business, not just professors in dusty offices.

New historical discoveries are highlighted on the timeline and presented with articles containing detailed information about the event.

The idea is also extended to the project's logo, where the letter H itself seems to be formed by gaps and events. This and the logo animation make the main symbol dynamic, just like history itself.
