Description
Usually, brands play with big emotions in their Christmas campaigns, but let’s face it: in the run-up to Christmas, real emotions arise especially on the day after the office Christmas party. Which is when the memories of the embarrassing actions at the party come back. In a somewhat unusual cross-media Christmas campaign, Burger King® Germany recounts precisely these moments with a clear message: We can't fix last night. But we can make today.
A woman in a bathtub is worrying about the fact that she performed a whale anthem on a continuous loop at the Christmas party. A man wonders whether the urgent meeting with his boss has anything to do with his fiery speech about secret societies. And a third person remembers showing everyone his feet – after all, in his eyes they are the most beautiful feet in the world. In three commercials, the protagonists review their behavior at their office Christmas party and realize that they cannot undo the night, but at least they can fix the day after – with burgers, fries & Co. from Burger King® Germany.
The scenario is not unfamiliar to many Germans, as a representative survey* of the German working population by Burger King® Germany shows. More than half of German employees (55 %) have experienced cringe behavior at a Christmas party. One in five employees (21 %) has even made a real mess of themselves. Almost half of those surveyed (46.3 %) said they regretted their behavior the previous night. 15.2 % of German employees have called in sick after an office Christmas party because their behavior was unpleasant. Forgetting would probably be the best medicine here, but according to the survey, sleep and especially feel-good food help to make the next day more bearable. Young employees in particular said that a burger was their salvation after a night of drinking. And this is exactly where the Christmas campaign from Burger King® Germany comes in: “We can't fix last night. But we can make today.” Whether it's the Whopper® or the Plant-based Long Chicken, whether you're dining in at the restaurant or enjoying the convenience of our delivery service, Burger King® Germany offers the right thing for everyone to get through the rough day after the office Christmas party, and not just then.
“Many people know and feel the moments that we exaggerate and humorously depict in our Christmas campaign,” says Klaus Schmäing, CMO of Burger King® Germany. “Our message: Don't let your spirits drop! With feel-good food such as a Whopper®, a side of fries, or our Plant-based Nuggets things might not be well, but they'll definitely get a whole lot better.”
